Peggy Thompson
Executive Chef of DISH
In March 2007, Janine Heath, General Manager of The River Inn, announced the appointment of Peggy Thompson as executive chef of DISH, the inviting 49-seat restaurant located in the heart of Foggy Bottom at 924 25th Street, NW. Chef Thompson brought diverse culinary expertise to her new position transforming DISH to a neighborhood friendly hangout, offering seasonal American comfort fare.
Prior to joining DISH, Peggy Thompson was the sous chef and banquet chef at the Historic Georgetown Club. She has also worked at other notable restaurants in Washington, D.C., including the Henley Park Hotel, under Craig Hartman; and the Morrison Clark Inn and the International Country Club, under Richard Thompson. Chef Thompson graduated in 1997 from the L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

The DISH Menu
The new menu for DISH is complemented by the restaurant’s new wine list which showcases big flavor, value-oriented wines from around the world, with most selections available by the glass and bottle Vintages range from $7-$13 by the glass and $26-$58 by the bottle, inviting exploration.
At lunch, starters are priced from $6-$8 and include crispy calamari served with sauce ravigote and grilled lemon and “killer” cobb salad served with endive, egg, bacon, tomato, chives and maytag blue cheese, to main dishes, priced from $8-$18, like the oyster po’ boy served with sauce ravigote and Creole potato salad ; ham and cheese served with shaved black forest ham, muster and maple mustard and the pan seared salmon served with baby romaine heart and creamy dill dressing. Dinner starters are $6-$10 with cornmeal fried oysters served with buttermilk and shaved fennel salad and crispy chicken rolls served with honey sambal dipping sauce, to main dishes, priced from $17-$28, like the ten- ounce delmonico served with creamed spinach and crispy sweet onion; pepper crusted salmon served with potato risotto, grilled asparagus and salsa fresca and the egg fettuccini served with forest mushrooms and mascarpone cream.
