The I Am Denver storytelling team created Chicanas: Nurturers and Warriors by interviewing some of the women who were marching – and singing – in the streets as well as others who were inspiring reform in education, business, healthcare and more. Thanks to the generosity of the participants and the partnership and archives of History Colorado, Denver Public Library, The Denver Post and others, the film illustrates how Chicanas have shaped our city and collective story. \ \ On Wednesday, Oct. 6, History Colorado will host an in-person screening of Chicanas: Nurturers and Warriors. The evening will begin with a community happy hour at 5 p.m. with a salsa and chips bar and beverages for purchase. The film will be shown at 6 p.m. in the Colorado Room. Denver\'s own Chicano activist and advisory member Ricardo La Fore will lead a tour of the \"El Movimiento\" exhibit following the viewing. \ \ There is no cost for the event, but registration is required.
