Join “San-Hansei”, or third and a half-generation Colorado-born and raised Japanese American and founder of the Japanese Arts Network, Courtney Ozaki, for this exploration of what life was like in Denver's historic Five Points neighborhood. Following the closing of WWII's incarceration camps, a wave of Japanese people came to Colorado to re-settle and start anew. Courtney will share her family's story, as well as other glimpses into this integrated neighborhood where families re-built and grew despite post-war racism across the country. Hear stories of shared cultural joy and Japanese tradition, and envision what life was like from their point of view.
