MONTHLY ‘SUMMER SESSIONS’ AT RIVERFRONT PARK ON THE HISTORIC 19TH STREET BRIDGE INCLUDE MUSIC, ART, FOOD, AND BOOZE (DENVER — May 20, 2021) – With the re-opening of public events, music and fun returns to Riverfront Park at Commons Park this summer. An entirely new and expanded concept, Summer Sessions, will be held once a month from June to September from 4-8 p.m. Denverites can enjoy a late afternoon and evening of live local music and interactive art, artisan vendors, fare from local food trucks, merchants, and a stacked bar of craft brews and boozy libations. This year park goers will also enjoy unique experiences on the historic 19th Street Bridge located at the north end of Commons Park. Riverfront Park Summer Sessions celebrates a re-awakening of Denver’s largest downtown residential community for 2021, with the park as the center stage for fun. Reconnection and inclusiveness are the driving themes and inspiration for each Summer Session, and everyone is welcome! Entry is free and Summer Sessions take place on June 24, July 8, August 19, and September 16, 2021. As a departure from previous concert programming on the central hill in the park, Summer Sessions moves north to the historic 19th Street Bridge at 19th and Platte Streets. The now pedestrian-only bridge takes park goers over the South Platte River and into Commons Park, adjacent to the Denver Skate Park. Built in 1888, the 19th Street Bridge is on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). During NRHP nomination, the bridge was described as the oldest surviving wrought iron bridge, oldest vehicular bridge at its original location, and oldest vehicular bridge still in public use. It was only one of two bridges that survived Denver’s 1965 flood.
