Our first choice of DC hotels
We have been staying here for years. The location is perfect- can walk to Georgetown, Kennedy Center, Dupont Circle. There is a Metro station close by. Lots of restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby. The rooms are equipped with full kitchens. Staff are wonderful. We have no problem walking to the Mall, the White House, etc. We recommend it to everyone we know

George Washington University Hospital - Best place to stay nearby
The staff from the valet to the desk to the bartender went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. It's a bargain compared to other DC hotels and within easy walking distance to GW and the Foggy Bottom Metro station. We stayed there because of it's proximity to GW Hospital. My tips if you are in the same situation. Get the 1 bedroom suite as it is huge and the caretaker can sleep very comfortably on the pull out sofa. The full size refrigerator with a real freezer above was very useful for medications. Pay for the valet parking- $50.00 per day with unlimited, friendly and instantaneous in and out service. Street parking is nearly impossible for long periods and the close by garages are $25 per 12 hours with no in and out. The neighborhood is good and within a 5 minute walk to lots of restaurants and within a 25 minute walk to the Capitol. The restaurant and room service were also very reasonably priced for a full breakfast. I'd definitely stay there again

Really lovely stay!
Spent 2+ weeks travelling US, so far this is the best stay ever. The inn locates in proximity to Washington University, walking distance to most of touristic places and atteactions. It only takes 10mins ride to DCA airpoet as weel. The room is very spacious and cozy, and the staff at reception are extremely informative. There is an italian restaurant downstairs as well. I will definitely choose River Inn again for my next visit to DC

LOVED our week-long stay at the River Inn. From the time we arrived at the curb until we left we felt appreciated and well cared for. The front desk staff, Ty, Sharon, and Liz, made check-in easy. They also provided much information and always greeted us with smiles and personal acknowledgements. Even the housekeeping staff was friendly. For example, we received a Happy Thanksgiving note from our housekeeper, Marta. We stayed in a Potomac View Suite. It had views of the river and Georgetown and was spacious with separate living and sleeping areas along with a well-equipped kitchen. The furnishings were quite nice and the rooms are currently being updated so they should be even better in the near future. The location was excellent. It's on a quiet residential street but the Metro station is 3 blocks away and there are Trader Joe's and Whole Foods stores nearby. It's near George Washington University and it's also an easy walk to the Kennedy Center. The only problem we encountered was the lack of affordable self-park locations in the neighborhood. Valet parking is available for an additional charge. We enjoyed the restaurant, Dish+Drinks. In fact, we discovered the restaurant several years ago and, because of it, we investigated staying at the hotel. The River Inn is dog-friendly, a must for us. Our two pups received lots of love and attention from the staff. The neighborhood is good for dog walking and there's a dog park just behind the hotel. Non-pet people shouldn't have an issue either. Only certain floors are open to pets. The others are pet-free. I recommend The River Inn. We certainly plan to return
