As a native Washingtonian, who has moved away, I offer to stay at hotels during holidays, when family runs out of space. So, I have the unique experience of really knowing the city and environs, while having stayed at numerous hotels since I moved out of town. The River Inn is absolutely the best accommodation I have experienced. Tucked away on a side street in Foggy Bottom, the front desk staff welcomes guests with enthusiasm and cheer to this little gem. The lobby and rooms are furnished and decorated with modern pieces in lovely muted colors. My own room with king-sized bed was a big surprise with its own kitchen that included a full-sized fridge, glass-top stove, microwave, and toaster. The hotel will order up groceries for arrival or during a stay from a nearby grocery store. The rooms are immaculate with a quiet cleaning staff, who won't disturb anyone who wants to sleep in. Though that isn't likely with so much to do. The hotel is a short walk from the Kennedy Center and the Metro. Otherwise, Uber can zip guests to the Smithsonian museums as easily as to upper northwest and places like the National Cathedral and little known treasures like Tudor Place in Upper Georgetown. That is by way of Rock Creek Parkway or other scenic routes. Arlington Cemetery is just across the Potomac River. Whether or not you have "a room with a view", consider a drive to see the sights lit up at night. Not least, have at least one meal in the restaurant, a hot spot for Kennedy Center performers, who enjoy the ambiance, well-crafted menu, and tiny bar. Take my word for it! I'm a former researcher and travel writer! I know Washington! Other hotels fall short. The River Inn is absolutely the best place to stay

Excellent choice. The rom was immaculate and so was the service we received. This was a great choice. The Resturant in the hotel was excellent also. We had dinner and breakfast, and we were not disappointed at all. Great service and great food. I would come there for dinner or breakfast anytime time!!! Thanks to the entire staff for and excellent experience!! I definitely recommend this place

We had an absolutely wonderful visit and the River Inn. Everyone was quite nice and accommodating. We celebrated our grandson's 7th birthday while there and they even acknowledged him! We were thrilled!! We will be back again and have recommended River Inn to many at home. Thanks ladies and gentlemen
