A great place in a nice neighborhood!

My husband & I flew to DC to visit our daughter over the Labor Day weekend. This was a great place to stay at a reasonable price. The room was very clean, well appointed and even had a small kitchen. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. We arrived by taking the metro from Reagan National Airport to the Foggy Bottom station -- it was only a 5 minute walk from there. (We packed lightly / didn't check any bags.) This is in a nice, historic neighborhood and we felt perfectly safe walking all around here. There were several restaurants near and also Whole Foods as well as Trader Joe's grocery stores nearby. Kara and Adrienne were super nice and one other girl helped us figure out how to get to the Newseum on the Metro one day (forgot her name). I highly recommend it and will tell others. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit DC

Best hotel in DC

We travel every year to DC as part of a family tradition. We have stayed at The River Inn many times over the years, and absolutely love The River Inn. Thos year, we were traveling to DC celebrate our son's 1st Birthday. Unbeknown to us, the hotel staff upgraded our room, free of charge and even provided a discounted rate! When we arrived, before check-in time, they already had a room ready for us. They even went so far as to get our son a birthday gift! The staff is very friendly and the hotel is very clean and updated in an excellent location in DC! We look forward to going back next year

Second home

Several years ago I began trying boutique hotels in DC. For a time I have been involved in events that requires stays at a headquarters hotel. I am working down the street from River Inn and was noticing that they had even updated since my last stay. This will be my go to in DC going forward. All the quiet and charm of a bed and breakfast but the professionalism and amenities of larger hotels. Book direct, you won't be sorry. Front desk staff is very professional and attentive. The restaurant is my kind of place to unwind

Great location, fabulous staff

My husband and I stayed at The River Inn for 5 nights in late August 2019. It is a wonderful hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet with a very comfortable bed. All of the staff that we encountered were incredibly helpful. The. Hotel is close to a Metro station and within a close walk to Georgetown and the Kennedy performing arts centre. I would definitely recommend

Great location, large room, not much on amenities

Location: tree-lined street right around the corner from the Foggy Bottom metro stop (less than five minute walk). Very safe feeling with a cute dog park directly behind the hotel. Valet parking is $50 (website says $42). Valet was quick and close by. Several restaurants within walking distance. Walking distance to GWU, but Uber needed for Georgetown for most people. Loved the location. Room: ours was large-about 650sf with two full beds and a flat screen TV in bedroom. Our only complaint was bedroom was so small there was no where to put a suitcase and no suitcase rack. We pulled out the ironing board and put our suitcase on that. Bathroom-tiny but nice. Marble. Very nice soaps and things. Gave us make-up remover pads which I loved. Living room-sleeper sofa and two comfy chairs, lamps, another television, a desk with comfy roller chair and a table and dinette with four chairs. Very nice for our family. Kitchen-two burner stove, microwave, small, full-sized refrigerator-freezer, toaster, Keirig, pots and pans (very low quality), plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, glasses, wine openers, a few serving pieces, silverware, full sized sink with disposer, paper towels, dish wash liquid, dish towel. We made breakfast every morning and grabbed coffee at the Starbucks which is right by the metro stop. Onsite gym was very small and in I'll repair. They offer some classes off site. We weren't told anything about them when we checked in, but I overheard someone else checking in being told About them the day before we left. Elevators were slow. Doors in our rooms didn't close well. It's an oooold building but on the most part they have kept it up and except for the kitchen, I felt everything in our room was clean. The bedding was nice. Will we stay again? Probably because they allow pets free and have a great location. Our son lives in Georgetown. If we weren't tied to this part of town, we probably wouldn't consider staying again. Not sure where these phenomenal reviews are coming from....was just ok in most ways. Giving it four because room was large, staff was friendly and responsive when we needed something, and it was comfortable for our pet
